(July 1, 1914: 99,111,000; July 1, 1917: 103,268,000; July 1, 1918: 103,208,000 (population change from a year earlier: -60,000 or -0.06%))

(in 1914 in millions: Newfoundland 0.2; US 98.5; Canada 7.7; Mexico 15.8; Argentine Republic 7.8; Austria-Hungary 50.7; France 39.7; German Empire 68.1; Italy 35.3; Netherlands 6.1; Russia in Europe 148.2; Turkey in Europe 1.6; United Kingdom 46.2; Australia 4.4; Tasmania 0.2; New Zealand 1.1; Turkey in Asia 21.8; Russia in Asia 32.2; Japan 53.4; Korea 14.0; China 313.6; Foreign China 1.6; Siam 6.2; British India 321.2; Philippines 8.6)
Note:
(a) Pay attention to Figure 2 at page 403 that showed that US population (31.4 million; 1860) was slightly larger than that of UK (28.9m; 1861 whereas in US (82m; 1890) had almost twice the population of UK (45.2; 1891).
(b) “Coincident full census have taken place in the different jurisdictions of the United Kingdom every ten years since 1801, with the exceptions of 1941 (during World War II) and in both Northern Ireland and the Irish Free State [now Republic of Ireland] in 1921 [Irish War of Independence (1919-1921)].”

That is why in 1914 the population of Ireland in incorporated into that of UK.
(c) Due to its reluctance, Newfoundland “officially joined Canada at midnight, March 31, 1949.” Wikipedia www.archives.gov/education/lessons/zimmermann/
(d) “On 1 Jan 1, 1901, federation of the colonies [Tasmania included] was achieved * * * The Commonwealth of Australia [which is the official name of Australia] was established”

(e) At page 312: "There is a large margin of doubt as to the number of people in this continent. China, which surely contains a third or more of the [world's] total, offers only rude estimations. Minister Rockhill's studies long since made it clearthat there were less than 400 millions, and the 'family' census of 1910 suggests somewhat more than 310 millions. The figure has been taken at 312 in 1911 and an increase assumed distinctly slower than in British India, a country of similar size, but with good government and protection from some of the many agencies of destruction now operative in China.”
“Foreign China” not explained. Did it mean Oversea Chinese (or Taiwan)?
