“The ‘golden years’ for Chinese construction machinery have ended, says Zoomlion Heavy Industry 中联重科. This bellwether reported its first-ever loss as a listed firm in the December quarter and says the market now looks ‘L-shaped.’
“Zoomlion’s receivables remain a big question mark. The firm previously booked sales without getting paid fully
My comment:
(a) The online title “Keep Digging for China Recovery Hopes” is more telling.
(b) The quotations are from print.
Online, quotation 1 is as follows: “The ‘golden years’ for Chinese construction machinery have ended, says Zoomlion Heavy Industry, a top machinery maker. This bellwether of China’s build-it-and-they-will-come economy reported its first-ever loss as a listed firm in the December quarter, with management saying the market now looks ‘L-shaped.’
(c) I have not seen a description of “L-shaped.” My guess is the market tanks, and maintains a flatline (reminiscent of absence of heart beat; about the same sale volume, that is) afterwards. That is what the print says later: “But Zoomlion itself notes the market for construction machines has 'entered a consolidation period with little fluctuation.' ”
