标题: 染井吉野的原产地
Two items, with the recent one first.

(1) 张钊 and 张志韬, '樱花的起源地是中国.'  南方都市报, Mar 30, 2015.
epaper.oeeee.com/epaper/A/html/2015-03/30/content_3402615.htm

Note:
(a) "近日,有韩国媒体称,日本樱花中最著名的品种染井吉野的原产地是韩国济州岛,同时赏樱也是韩国文化。"
(i) 染井 吉野 Somei-yoshino is a hybrid. This is settled. The issue is where it (cherry plant) came from, where and when.
(ii) The etymology of Japanese name of the plant is uncontroverted.
(A) The former Somei Mura 染井村 is now 東京都豊島区 駒込町.
(B) Yoshino District, Nara  奈良県 吉野郡 (famous for 吉野桜)
(iii) The five-petal, fragrant Somei-Yoshino is red in the bud, pink upon flowering and white in blossom. ja.wikipedia.org
(iv) "The fruit, a small cherry, is a globose drupe 8 to 10 millimetres (0.31–0.39 in) in diameter; they are an important source of food for many small birds and mammals, including robins and thrushes. The fruit contain little flesh and much concentrated red juice, which can stain clothing and brick. The fruit is only marginally sweet to the human palate." en.wikipedia.org
(b) 知多D is Cantonese, where 多D means "a little more."
(c) cherry

(section 2 History)

(2) Cho MS et al, Molecular and Morphological Data Reveal Hybrid Origin of Wild Prunus yedoensis (Rosaceae) from Jeju Island, Korea: Implications for the origin of the flowering cherry. AMERICAN JOURNAL OF BIOLOGY, 101: 1976-1986 (NOVEMBER 2014).
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25366862
("KEY RESULTS: * * * the possible origin of cultivated P. × yedoensis from wild populations on Jeju Island was also suggested")

My comment:
(a) I did not get to read the paper, but the authors were humble (possible, suggested). Thus there is no reason to argue; rather we should wait for further (genetic) studies.
(b) Rosaceae (in the title) is the name of the family, which includes rose.
(c) cpDNA = chloroplast DNA  (Chlorophill-containing chloroplast 葉綠體 (含 葉綠素) is in cytoplasm, outside the nucleus of a plant cell.)
