I left Taiwan a quarter century ago, in 1984. Up to mid-1970s, the authoritarian government in Taiwan prohibited anything remotely related to local affairs. I wanted to put up a poster "I love Taiwan; "No can do," I was told. O, I hate the regime!
Apparently things have changed since. Historical documents are compiled. (In the past years, I knew Japan kept government documents collected in the colonial rule of Taiwan. It seems, however, more have been preserved.)

(i) Kingdom of Tungning 東寧王國 (the namesake 東寧 was the capital, which was Fort Proventia 普羅民遮城 (constructed out of red bricks, Han Chinese called it 赤崁樓) (The word proventia means "province" but I do not know what language it is.)

Sayaka CHTANI 茶谷 さやか (さやか 明か, though he adopted the Chinese name 茶谷 亮; born in 1979; Currently a PhD student in political scienceat George Washington University (of Washington DC), he was in Taiwan for a year from September 2003 to study Chinese at International Chinese Language Program (ICLP), National Taiwan University.)
