中东多个国家的民调显示,教育及收入和对恐怖袭击的支持不存在反向关系。皮尤公司2004年的Pew Global Attitudes Project曾询问受访对象是否认为伊拉克境内对西方人的自杀炸弹攻击是正当的。Krueger (2007)分析了约旦、摩洛哥、巴基斯坦和土耳其的民调结果,总体而言,受过较高教育的受访对象往往更倾向于认为这些袭击是正当的。在统计了受访对象收入的约旦和土耳其,收入和对待恐怖主义的态度也并没有明显关系。Krueger和Malečková(2003)对巴勒斯坦“政策与调查中心(PCPSR)”民调的分析也得出了类似的结论。受教育程度越高的巴勒斯坦人越支持针对以色列的武装袭击。与经济窘困导致恐怖主义倾向的说法相反,民调数据显示巴勒斯坦失业人员支持对以暴力行动的倾向反而较低。
