(3)  Nick Timiraos, Trump Considers Kudlow After Cohn. Wall Street Journal, Mar 14, 2018 (print).

Quote:

(a) "Mr Kudlow's candidacy for the post is notable because the former Wall Street economist has repeatedly and publicly criticized Mr Trump's position on trade. He has also voiced alarm with rising budget deficits, Mr Trump's apparent preference for a weaker dollar, and the president's desire to use trade deficits as a report card on economic vitality.

" 'We don't agree on everything but in this case U think that's good,' Mr Trump told reporters on Tuesday [Mar 13, 2018]. 'I want to have a divergent opinion. We agree on most.'

(b) Mr Trump said on Tuesday that Mr Kudlow 'has come around to believing in tariffs as also a negotiating point.'

My comment: There is no need to read the rest of this report.

(4) Larry Kudlow
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Kudlow
(1947- ; host of CNBC's The Kudlow Report [Kudlow's hosting with CNBC was: 2001-2008, 2009-2014: en.wikipedia.org for "The Kudlow Report"] )

Quote: "Kudlow graduated from University of Rochester in Rochester, New York with a degree in history in 1969. * * * In 1971, Kudlow attended Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, where he studied politics and economics. He left before completing his master's degree.  Kudlow began his career as a staff economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, taking a position 'as a junior economist in a job where a master's degree wasn't required.' He worked in the division of the Fed that handled open market operations.  During the first term of the Reagan administration (1981–1985), Kudlow was associate director for economics and planning in the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), a part of the Executive Office of the President. While he worked at the OMB, Kudlow was also an advisory committee member of the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, more commonly known as Freddie Mac. In April 2005, New York Governor George Pataki included Kudlow in a six-member state tax commission.

My comment:
(a) I read (3) yesterday, suspected Mr Kudlow does not has a PhD in economics, and was disinclined to believe.
(b) Mr Kudlow will lead National Economic Council (United States)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Economic_Council_(United_Stat
(1992- ; head is titled "director")

, not, as some news reports incorrectly state, Council of Economic Advisers
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_of_Economic_Advisers
(1946- )

Both are part of White House, but I can not tell them apart. "From 1982 to 1983, [Paul] Krugman spent a year working at the Reagan White House as a staff member of the Council of Economic Advisers." Wikipedia.
