(a) Only the last two sections are about China, which cites
Edward Goldberg, Who Lost Egypt? Globalist, Feb 11, 2011.

("neither country during the last 200 years fell completely under colonial rule for any long period of time")
In fact, neitehr China nor Egypt became a colony a century ago.

(The country became a British protectorate in 1914 and achieved independence in 1922)
(b) Friedman's article states, "China and Egypt were both great civilizations subjected to imperialism and were both dirt poor back in the 1950s, with China even poorer than Egypt, Edward Goldberg, who teaches business strategy, wrote in The Globalist.
The truth is the 1950 data for China is lacking, either
(i) Real Gross Domestic Product per Capita, current price
or (ii) Real GDP per capita (Constant Prices: Chain series).
