("[G]uidance systems [of a bomb] are so good that individual rooms [or a specific floor], as opposed to entire buildings, can be aimed at")
My comment:
(1) This Economist article is so new that other than it, there is little information about perseus, the munition, or MPR-500 (see next).
(2) Napalm is coined by combining NAphthene with PALMitate.
(3) MPR-500 -- Multi-Purpose Rigid Bomb
http://www.imi-israel.com/home/doc.aspx?mCatID=66598
(a) You know from the title of the web page what MPR stands for.
(b) Israel Military Industries Ltd (IMI), established in 1933* and "fully owned by the Israeli government" ("About IMI" in the web site), is an Israeli weapons manufacturer that makes this bomb.
* http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel_Military_Industries
states that 1933 was "unofficial"--presumably because Israel was formed in 1949 and therefore IMI was underground prior to that.

(5) Massive Ordnance Penetrator

(a 30,000-pound bomb also known as GBU-57A/B where GBU stands for "Guided Bomb Unit")
(6) pass (n): "a single passage or movement (as of an airplane) over a place or toward a target"
(7) CBU-105 Sensor Fuzed Weapon--where CBU stands for Cluster Bomb Unit."
(8) Textron Defense Systems
http://www.textrondefense.com/
Its "products" page states,
"Among our achievements is the Sensor Fuzed Weapon, smart anti-armor weapon, which made its combat debut in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. Reports of its successful use describe the destruction of multiple armored tanks with a single weapon - while leaving a clean battlefield. The SFW continues to demonstrate its versatility and lethality against stationary or moving land and maritime threat targets.
(9) Father of all bombs
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Father_of_all_bombs
("Aviation Thermobaric Bomb of Increased Power (ATBIP), nicknamed 'Father of All Bombs' (FOAB), is a Russian-made air-delivered/land activated thermobaric weapon. In describing the bomb's destructive power, Russian deputy armed forces chief of staff Alexander Rukshin was quoted as saying, 'all that is alive merely evaporates.' The bomb is reportedly four times as powerful as the U.S. military's GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb (MOAB, backronymmed as the "Mother of All Bombs").
Incidentally, Moab is a city in Utah.
Moab, Utah
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moab,_Utah
, whose "History" section is interesting.
(c) The Economist article says this FOAB is "an embarrassment" because the bomb is not smart, causing too much collateral damage.
(10) Israel's Rafael boasts
Trophy active protection system

. I had serious doubt, however. Taiwan has FGM-148 Javelin, an USA-made man-portable anti-tank guided missile.

There is no way gun fires (as Trophy is) can deflect a missile that powerful, as opposed to a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG)--or a bomb from the sky.
