My comment:
(a) Just take a look at the graphic: Quarterly change in gross domestic product, at an annualized rate*
* Data are adjusted for inflation and seasonability; euro-zone and euro-zone country data are adjusted for the number of working days."
You will see that Germany, Japan and US are not very different since 1Q08. In other words, US or Japan is not that worse off, compared to the lionized Germany.
