标题: 贸易战一触即发 [打印本页] 作者: choi 时间: 12-5-2011 08:10 标题: 贸易战一触即发 (1) Alan Beattie, A Heated Exchange; Sinp-American trade relations; For all the White House claims that its flexible approach is curbing China's currency and trade interventions, renewed economic weakness will increase fears of an all-out trade war. Financial Times, Dec 5, 2011.
Paragraph 2: If the American economy stalls and unemployment remains high as the US heads into an election year, Capitol Hill's patience is likely to wear thin, and fears of an all-out trade war will rise.
Excerpt in the window of print: 'Once the potential for litigation is raised, there a 50 per cent record of China taking an action to comply'
My comment:
(a) The entire paragraph is this: "Once the potential for litigation is raised, there a 50 per cent record of China taking an action to comply with its obligations before it actually goes through the dispute settlement process," says Tim Reif, general counsel at theUS trade representative's office.
(b) There is no need to read the text.
(2) By nature Finanacial Times (like Wall Street Jourmal and Economist) are conservative, as traders are--in and out of Wall Street.
So Voice of America may not be sensational when the titles of its reports uses 一触即发 a couple of times recently.
