(2) Taiwan is a big tent. We take in people who are against us.
(3) But Mr. 潘仲光 is Taiwanese by birth, which is enough for citizenship (
as his father apparently was/is a citizen there).
Taiwan has 冠捷电子 also, which has nothing to do with the Pans.
And I doubt Mr. Pan's 冠捷电子 (at Fujian) was or is a hi-tech company (
although I am a biologist by training), as his line of business is
hospitality (东方集团总裁, 东方高尔夫国际集团总裁).
(4) That is why the title of 光明日报 identifies him as "美籍华人" rather
than "Taiwanese."
I have no idea how his father made millions. (I have not heard of the father
or son.) Howevr, it is safe to say that Mr. Pan makes his fortunes in China
. According to AMERICAN tradition, it is not surprising that he contribute
to the society that feeds him.
(B) As for Prof. 周厚复, I have not heard of him, either.
The page in 互动百科 showed he was ordinary.

Clearly indicated it was his children who made the donation in memoriam of
their father.
The children were not billionaires and their donation, while significant,
was not huge.
