My comment:
(a) The Chinese report is NOT translated from the English one. The second half of the Chinese report is about 高层公墓, whereas the English one deals with only the living.
(b) Back in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, I had underneath my bed decaying skeletons. My father gave them to me, after he had collected them from, he alleged, several opened graves when government was building a new highway and digging through graves nobody claimed.
Architect Gary Chang's family of six (including himself) "grew up in a 32 sq m (344 sq ft) [two decades ago about 1/4 of Taiwan's average at the time, which is now about 1,500 sq ft] flat in the Kowloon area."
Note:
(a) The report quotes Mr Chang as saying, "Every room uses the entire floor area to maximise space."
How does he do it? Here is how.

(b) The report states, "So Ms Ma has learned to adapt by cooking with only one electric pot. The gadget can grill, bake, fry, defrost and steam using a halogen light as heat. It replaces her oven, microwave and electric stove."
(i) halogen lamp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halogen_light
(Halogen lamps do not contain any mercury. General Electric claims that none of the materials making up their halogen lamps would cause the lamps to be classified as hazardous waste)
The Wiki page does not mention it can cook. and I have not heard of it.
(ii) But in YouTube, You can find a lot with the search term: halogen oven.
(c) The report talks about "associate professor of architecture at Hong Kong University, JIA Beisi."
