(2) Takashi Mochizuki and Lukas I Alpert, Japan and Russia Move Closer as Both Eye China. Wall Street Journal, Apr 27, 2013 http://online.wsj.com/article/SB ... 46263591675042.html
(paragraph 1: "Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visits Moscow beginning Sunday, the first trip to Russia by a Japanese leader in a decade, as both countries look for ways to counterbalance their increasingly powerful neighbor: China")
My comment:
(a) When I read it (two days ago), I pooh-poohed it, as an American reporter's wishful thinking.
(b) Takashi MOCHIZUKI 望月 崇
* tsuki 月 【つき】 (n): "moon"
* mochi 餅 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mochi
* As a surname, Mochizuki has corresponding kanji, either 餅月 (because the full moon--on the 15th of the lunar month--looks like a mochi) or 望月.
* 望月 = 満月の異称 http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%9C%9B%E6%9C%88
