Note:
(a) “They also wear tzitzit, which are specially knotted fringes attached to a four-cornered shawl-like garment called a tallit.”

tzitzit
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tzitzit
(section 1 Etymology)

(b) “You can explain to them that just because there is no mezuzah on the front door of the Christian church doesn’t mean the people in the Church and the Temple are praying to different gods.”

I am unsure what it means. My research shows
(i) Alexander Poltorak, The Protective Power of Mezuzah. Chabad.org, undated
http://www.chabad.org/library/ar ... ower-of-Mezuzah.htm
(" 'The mezuzah affixed to the doorpost of a home serves as a protection against the messengers of evil' ")
(ii) Therefore, a mezuzah is not affixed to the doorway of a temple.

(c) Temple? Synagogue?
(i) Synagogues, Shuls and Temples; Level: Basic. Judaism 101, undated.
www.jewfaq.org/shul.htm

four consecutive paragraphs:

"The Hebrew term is beit k'nesset (literally, House of Assembly), although you will rarely hear this term used in conversation in English.

"The Orthodox and Chasidim typically use the word 'shul,' which is Yiddish. The word is derived from a German word meaning 'school,' and emphasizes the synagogue's role as a place of study.

"Conservative Jews usually use the word 'synagogue,' which is actually a Greek translation of Beit K'nesset and means 'place of assembly' (it's related to the word 'synod').

"Reform Jews use the word 'temple,' because they consider every one of their meeting places to be equivalent to, or a replacement for, The Temple in Jerusalem.

(ii) English dictionary:
(A) school (n; etymology: ultimately from Greek)
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/school
(B) shul (n; from Old High German scuola school)
www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/shul

In modern German, “Schule” is noun feminine for “school.”

(d) The author is Jewish.
