(d) 环球时报 in a Feb 2, 2018 report (in Chinese) translated imperative powers as 新帝国主义列强, expressing surprise about the label. BBC Chinese today for the first time reports about the remarks with the title 美国谈中国：拉美不需要新的帝国强权 (in other words, the translation is 帝国强权). There has been no comment from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
