Quote:
"The sources, including foreign diplomats, told Reuters that Wang Qishan, a close ally of President Xi Jinping, will likely become vice president with a portfolio specifically focused on handling ties with Washington. He would report directly to Xi. * * * Effectively Wang Qishan will be China’s senior-most diplomat, then Yang [Jiechi] and then Wang Yi.
"He would report directly to Xi.
My comment:
(a) There is no need to read the rest.
(b) Just days ago, the same reporters of Reuters reported that Wang Qishan would become head of central bank! This report does not bother to explain why the change of wind.
VOA Chinese, Feb 27, 2018
https://www.voachinese.com/a/liuhe-us-20180227/4273780.html
(Gary Cohn)")
My comment: There is no need to read the rest, because US is not willing to show its hand before negotiation.
