(2) Gwen Ackerman with Fadwa Hodali, The Arabic-Speaker Who Might Lead Israel.
(Kahlon, the 57-year-old son of poor immigrants from Libya * * * The hardest part of governing Israel, of course, is dealing with the Palestinians, and in that Kahlon's heritage -- he grew up speaking Arabic and Hebrew at home -- gives him an advantage. At a meeting last year with Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, an aide warned Hamdallahto be wary of the Israeli finance minister. Kahlon turned around, smile, and gently suggested in the Arabic he learned from his parents that the aide might consider being more respectful. The room erupted in laughter, and now Kahlon s greeted with kisses and slaps on the back when he visits the West Bank")

(3) Peter Coy and Arit John, Bragging Rights on Trump's Turf.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/a ... icans-and-democrats

two consecutive paragraphs::

In coming November's mid-term election, "Democrats can take the House even without winning districts as red as Pennsylvania's 18th. They need just 24 more seats for a majority, and Republicans hold 23 that Hillary Clinton carried in 2016. Winning all or most of those, plus a few purple districts, would do the trick. (Lamb will likely run in a different district—the 17th—in November, because the state Supreme Court is redrawing the map to end gerrymandering [which United States Supreme Court several days ago decided against meddling].)

"In the special elections for Congress held since Trump took office, Democratic candidates have averaged about 12 percent more of the vote than history would suggest they’d receive. They need only 4 percent above their historical average in the fall to take the House, says John Anzalone, a pollster and campaign strategist in Montgomery, Ala

(i) Conor Lamb
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conor_Lamb
(1984- )

Quote: "He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006 with a BA degree in political science, and earned a JD degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2009. * * * [US Marine Corps 2009-2013]  From 2013 to 2014, Lamb clerked for Joseph Frank Bianco, a federal judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Following his clerkship, in October 2014 Lamb was appointed an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the United States Department of Justice's Pittsburgh office * * * On October 5, 2017, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that Lamb was considering running for Congress in a special election for Pennsylvania's 18th congressional district. The vacancy was created when Representative Tim Murphy (R) resigned amid revelations that he had had an extramarital affair and urged his mistress to terminate an unexpected pregnancy, despite his long record as a vocal opponent of abortion.
(ii) O'Conor
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O%27Conor
often Anglicized as O'Connor; The clan name originated in the 10th century as a derivative of its founder Conchobar mac Taidg Mór [whose disputed meaning includes lover of hound or wolf] )

(d) "Lamb would likely join the Blue Dog caucus of 18 moderate and conservative House Democrats."
