My comment: There is no need to read (3) or (6) except the quotations.

Please read the first five paragraphs only, including a Chinese who
commented, "There is no way that Google will get away with this. They will
have to leave China for sure,"

My comment: In the print but not online version, there was a world map, with
the caption: "Different perspective: on display at the library of Congress
in Washington, a map placing China at the center of the world. Dating from
1602 and printed on rice paper, the document is by Matteo Ricci [利瑪竇,
1552-1610], an Italian missionary. Four centuries on, Beijing still feels
able to ignore outside opinion on how it conducts itself."

Taking a close look at the map, I was impressed. (Contrary to the assertion
of Financial Times and many others, the center of the map is north pole--not
China.) I saw no boundary for China, which was marked "大明一統; Asia was
亞細亞; US, 亞--I cannot decipher the second character--利加. I can not read
the characters over Taiwan or Japan.
