that have been approved by US.

Emmanuelle Tzeng and Deborah Kuo, Taiwan to defer arms acquisition from U.S.

http://www.voanews.com/chinese/news/20101027-US-accepted-East-Asia-Summi-105852583.html

My comment: The ASEAN-lead East Asia Summit (EAS) includes 10 ASEAN members,
plus dialogue members--Australia, China, South Korea, Japan, India and New
Zealand.

(2) 调查缅甸唱反调 中美外交力量相较量. BBC Chinese, Oct. 27, 2010.

My comment:
(a) The VOA report refers to
Colum Lynch, China campaigning against international probe of possible war
crimes in Burma. Washington Post, Oct. 25, 2010.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/10/25/AR2010102503168.html
("'There is a pattern of gross and systematic violation of human rights
which has been in place for many years and still continues,' the U.N.
special rapporteur for human rights in Burma, Tomas Ojea Quintana, wrote in
a March report, saying such crimes could amount to war crimes or crimes
against humanity. 'There is an indication that those human rights violations
are the result of a state policy.'")
(b) When I read the VOA report, I asked, "What war crimes?" The quote
exlains that. For this reason, there is no need to read the rest of WP
report.

(3) Anthony Faiola, Britain announces major military cutbacks. Washington
Post, Oct. 19, 2010.
("Yet, without question, the cuts will mean a reduction in broader British
military might, which observers said could be a source of concern if the
United States ever requires aid, say, in the event of a Chinese invasion of
Taiwan.")

My comment: There is no need to read the rest.
