("the mediocre performance of Chinese forces in Korea (1950-53), on the
Russian border (the 1970s) and against Vietnam (1979) has not helped. The
only victory was against India in 1962, but that was a high altitude
skirmish in the mountains on the Tibetan border. Nice, but not indicative of
a trend. Chinese military capabilities appear to have gone downhill since
then")

(b) The report states, "China has made claims on disputed islands in the
region, bringing it into direct conflict with powerful neighbors like South
Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam. Three of these nations are treaty allies
of the United States."
Well, Taiwan is not a treaty ally--but Vietnam definitely is not.
(3) NATO missile defense shield in Turkey may threat Iran, Russia - experts.

Quote:
"'The President of the Academy on Geopolitical Affairs, Leonid Ivashov said
the ongoing deployment of the anti-missile defense shield in Europe is aimed
to "neutralize Russia's nuclear missile potential.'
"'We do not have other powers, except of the nuclear missile potential, to
protect even the single parts of our territories,' Ivashov said.
My coment: This report is not worth reading, for it avoids to labor on
Russia's positions, but Turkey's. The quote above, however, is intriguing,
for it speaks volumn about it does not say: the traditional weapons of
Russia is in decline, although China still wants to buy if allowed (by
Russia, of course).
