VOA Cantonese, Dec. 9, 2010.
http://www.voanews.com/cantonese/news/Chinese_Economy_Kidnapped_by_Real_Estates-111609554.html

My comment: I select the report in VOA Cantonese (with traditional Chinese), rather than the one in VOA Chinese (with simplified Chiese), because the latter is truncated, starting with "涉足房地產業務的上市公司已達802個" in the former.

------------------------Separately
(1) David Wessel, Beware of the end of savings glut. Wall Street Journal, Dec. 9, 2010.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704250704576005364008384394.html

My comment: Take a look at the graphics. The thesis of the report is that Chinese will save less, therefore supplying less cheap capitals to the west.

(2) Jean Guerrero, Altered Corn Slowly Takes Root in Mexico. Wall Street Journal, Dec. 9, 2010.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703493504576007583645210912.html

My comment: Do not read the report. Take a look at the graphics. China does not grow genetically modified corn, but annually it produces almost as much corn as US. (Then again US uses less man power.)

(3) Mike Esterl, Miners Dig In for a Fight; Environmentalists Say Phosphate Mining Threatens Florida Wetlands, Farmland. Wall Street Journal, Nov. 30, 2010.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703945904575645142173001212.html

My comment: Do not read the report. Take a look at the graphics. China is world's largest phosphate producer.

(4) Dexter Roberts and Stanley Reed, China Wants Nuclear Reactors—Fast. Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Dec. 2, 2010.
http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/10_50/b4207015606809.htm

Excerpt in the window of the print: Unlike the rest of the world, when it comes to building nuclear reactors in China, money is not an issue.

My comment:
(a) How much electricity the Three Gorge dam is generating? Not enough?
(b) Oftentimes China media boast about China's great strides in indigenous manufacturing of nuclear reactors. Indeed China has exported reactors to Pakistan. If true, why does China need foreign technology?

(5) Mehul Srivastava, So Long, Bangalore. No Manila Is on the Line. Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Dec. 2, 2010.
http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/10_50/b4207017538393.htm

My comment: This report is about call centers. Please read paragraph 1 only.

(5) GDP: Feels Like It’s 2008 All Over Again; global recovery. Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Dec. 2, 2010.
http://images.businessweek.com/mz/10/50/1050_20globalrecovery.pdf?chan=magazine+channel_news+-+global+economics

My comment: This graphic does not include China. Al four economies (US, UK, Japan and EU) have their 2Q08 GDP as 100 each. It is clear that US recovers the quickest among the four, while unemployment plagues all four. Thus US is not bad economically.
