My comment: At the end of the year, Economist, a weekly, publishes a two-week combined issue (so that it does not have to publish around Christmas). The combined invariably has a couple of essays. This year, tow essays are about China. I am not interested in sports. And Taiwan, who once considered the orthodox China, no longer wonders why it can not clinch world titles in sports, having resigned about our limitations. Maybe China does have a shot, with its big population and East Germany-like efficiency.
