(1) Jeffrey A Reachtenberg, Costs Bind Barnes & Noble; Digital-investment expenses offsets better sales; Prices of Nook educed again. Wall Street Journal, Feb 22, 2012.

Quote:

"Barnes & Noble Inc's latest quarterly results tell a tale of two businesses, with sharply improved profits from its consumer book stores being more than offset by rising investment costs in its digital business.

"The retailer also unveiled a new version of its Nook tablet, with less built-in memory [at 8GB] than a version released in November [at 16GB]. The latest tablet is priced to match Amazon.com Inc's Kindle Fire tablet at $199. And Barnes & Noble cuts the price of its Nook Color e-reader for the second time in three months to $169.

Note:
(a) There is no need to read the rest, especially you are not intersted in its stock.

"•NOOK Tablet– 8GB: 1GHz TI OMAP4 (dual-core) processor with 512MB RAM[;]
•NOOK Tablet– 16GB: 1GHz TI OMAP4 (dual-core) processor with 1GB RAM")

TI is Texas Instruments.

Both versions are Wi-fi only; no 3G or 4G connectivity.
(c Nook tablet of 16GB used to sell for $279, but--after introduction of the new, 8GB tablet--now costs as low as $249 in the market.

(2) Jung-Ah Lee and Min-Jeong Lee, Samsung Plans to Spin off LCDs. WSJ, Feb 21, 2012
(The world's biggest supplier of LCD by sales, Samsung Electronics Co plans to spin off the unprofitable LCD business to create a wholly owned subsidiary, and to push a more advanced technology called OLED, or organic light-emitting diode; "OLED screens have a thin layer of organic material that glows--creating the screen's backlighting--and require less power, have clearer picture quality and a faster response time than conventional LCDs")

My comment: There is no need to read the rest.

(3) Quentin Hardy, Taser’s Latest Police Weapon: The Tiny Camera and the Cloud; A video of law enforcement actions can quickly clear up a disputed incident. New York Times, Feb 21, 2012.
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/2 ... -and-the-cloud.html

Quote:

"On Tuesday [Feb 21], Taser will announce a camera, a half-ounce unit about the size of a cigar stub that clips on to a collar or sunglasses of an officer and can record two hours of video during a shift. The information is transferred by a docking station to a local machine, and eventually stored in a cloud-computing system that uses Taser’s online evidence management system.

"But the camera system, called Axon, is one way to defuse the controversies. Taser already has some 55,000 minicameras mounted on Tasers. But the camera is only triggered when the gun is drawn. It could do the same for police shootings. The video, however, would not capture the events leading up to that point and provides no context that might justify the weapon’s use.
