My comment:
(a) 马腾 Martin PATIENCE
(b) I can not find the English original.
(c) I have never been to Texas. In 1990s, I chanced upon a tourist in a subway of the greater Boston. A Hispanic American (possibly native born), she was very proud of being Texan: "Everything there is big." Without a hint of jealousy or irony (really), I replied, "That is interesting. Japanese love everything small. Both make the world more fascinating." That obviously gave her pause. (Growing up in Taiwan, we were told about the same things Japanese were told, about our respective lands.) So, if Chinese love everything big, more power to them.
