("A set of photographs from the late 19th century auctioned off by Sotheby’s earlier this week for £146,500 ($247,000) * * * The photographs include a 13-part panorama of Shanghai’s bund, taken around 1873 by British photographer Henry Cammidge, that measures over three meters in length. The lot also features 25 other photographs taken of the city and of nearby Suzhou around the same time. 'It’s wonderful it survived at all,' Richard Fattorini, director of the printed books, manuscripts and topographical photographs section of Sotheby’s, told official news agency Xinhua")
