My guess is that the "remote-controlled vehicle" was underneath the metal container, whose side is decorated with a sketch of the boat.

(ii) solar barque is found in Egypt mythology, used by sun god Ra during the day and in the night. So there were two kinds. King Khufu's is the daytime solar barque.

I  believe that "rediscovered" in the above Wiki page should be "discovered." Both pits, it turned out, contained Khufu’s boats, one in each pit.
