("Intel introduced its first 32nm processors this past January, with the arrival of its 'Westmere' Xeons, and GlobalFoundries now tells us it's scheduled to deliver 32nm chips by the middle of next year")

(i) Xeon

("Gulftown or Westmere-EP, a six-core 32 nm Westmere-based processor, is the basis for the Xeon 36xx and 56xx series and the Core i7-980X. It launched in the first quarter of 2010")

Nehalem (microarchitecture)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nehalem_(microarchitecture)
(section 7 Successor: "The successor to Nehalem and Westmere is Sandy Bridge." Take a look at the graphic that follows this sentence, in section 7, which indicates both Westmere and Sandy Bridge--and nothing else--are of 32nm.)

My comment: Other than the title, there is no need to read the report.

(c) On Jan 31, 2011, Intel initiated the largest recall in the corporate history, of all Sandy Bridgfe chipsets, that was expected to cost $1 billion.

My comment:
(a) Essentially Powerchip of Taiwan turns into a foundry--or a contractor.
(b) Japanese surname Kono: 河野
(c) "Elpida is a Greek word which means 'hope.'"
