My comment: This VOA report does not say clearly. but the latest self-immolation occurs on Monday (today). Whether he "tried" to burn himself or did is unclear for now.

(3) AK-74 Dies Of Overproduction. Sttrategy Page, Oct 3, 2011

("The company (Izhmash) that manufactures the AK-74 still has export sales,
which actually kept the firm in business for the last two decades. Orders
from the Russian military declined steeply with the end of the Cold War and
dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, and export sales were pursued
aggressively. It was a matter of economic survival for Izhmash, which has
been manufacturing weapons since 1807. Izhmash has also tried to shut down
all the unlicensed manufacturers of AK-47/74 weapons. This has not been very
successful, as during the communist period, things like patents and
trademarks were regarded as capitalist degeneracy")

Quote:
"Unable to create an army or navy capable of defending their vast borders,
Russia is building up the one weapon, nuclear armed ballistic missiles, that
will be most likely to keep potential invaders out.
"The original Topol (RS-12M) was the first mobile ICBM, and entered service
in the late 1980s. It was also Russia's first solid fuel ICBM. The U.S.
introduced solid fuel rockets for ICBMs in the early 1960s, but it took
Russia two more decades to master this technology.
"A naval version of the Topol M (the RSM-56 Bulava), for use on SSBN
submarines, was supposed to enter mass production in 2008, but technical
problems caused that to be delayed for another three years. Too many of
Bulava test launches failed.

(other designations: RS-12M Topol; topol is Russian for poplar; mobile on
truck; In service 1988–present; The United States considered developing
their own road-mobile ICBM called the Midgetman, but the program was
canceled with the end of the Cold War [US had SLBMs alread])

(c) Regarding quotation 2. Intercontinental ballistic missile
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intercontinental_ballistic_missile
(i) Quote from Wiki:
"As of 2009, all five of the nations with permanent seats on the United
Nations Security Council have operational ICBM systems: all have submarine-
launched missiles, and Russia, the United States and China also have land-
based missiles. In addition, Russia and China have mobile land-based
missiles.
section 3 Modern ICBMs: "ICBMs can be deployed from multiple platforms:
* in missile silos,
* on submarines,
* on heavy trucks,
* mobile launchers on rails.
The last three kinds are mobile and therefore hard to find."
(ii) My comment: We know China's submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs)--JL-2 is the name--does not work. In addition, China's land-based mobile ICBM is on rails.
