(ii) The last paragraph of the VOA report says, "路竹会的帽子上印了一句英文，或许可以代表许多台湾NGO的服务宗旨，那就是 「台湾以前接受别人帮助，现在我们有能力，是该帮助人家了。」"

I doubt a cap can print so may words. And I can not find a motto with Taiwan Root. But the founder Dr. Liu has said, "Taiwan had accepted international aid in the earlier days when Taiwan was lacking medical resources. Now we have the ability to help others, so it’s time to lend a helping hand to give back to the international community."

(iii) "說到「路竹」的由來，[founder] 劉啟群笑了，他本來只是隨興取個好聽的名字，卻一直碰到有人問起「由來」，只好努力地想個「有意義」的典故：竹子中空象徵路竹的謙虛精神，竹子有節象徵路竹人的有志學習；因此，決定將醫療團定名為「路竹」，象徵愛從台灣出發，像道路一樣無限延伸。如果這個由來是事後「掰」的，那就圓得太妙了，簡直無懈可擊。"

But there is 高雄縣路竹鄉 in Taiwan, whose web site states, "路竹鄉早期稱為「半路竹」而後改為「路竹」。 至於「半路竹」之名稱源由，一種較被肯定的看法是認為：此地北距台南市安平廿公里，南距鳳山廿六公里，約值其半路，且竹木茂盛，為商旅行人歇息納涼之地，故稱「半路竹」。"
