(1) I searched the web diligently for the phrase “像鸦片战争中中国签订的不
平等条约” but failed to find it in China's media. The phrase indeed is a
translation from a Japanese report.

have watched Chinese tourists coming to Taiwan, and various groups of China
coming to Taiwan to buy goods--all part of China's charm offensive to help
President Ma Ying-jeou of Taiwan.
