Yesterday I saw this hard cover. Upon reading the book jacket, I was
fascinated by the entirely unconventional--and unexpected--perspectives of
the author.

Sarah Rose, For All the Tea in China. Viking Penguin, Mar. 18, 2010.

Her web site is:
www.sarahrose.com

While at her home page, please also click (i) FOR ALL THE TEA IN CHINA (which is a synopsis that is not what amazed me) and (ii) Sarah Rose in the right column.

(a) I do not want to be a spoiler, but I cannot help but wonder if the Qing/
Ching dynasty followed through with its threat to cultivate poppy and export
opium, as Afghanistan has done (and Golden Triangle did)--and Colombia with
cocaine, perhaps China would be as rich as it used to be.
(b) The theft is like India Jones, only the subject of desire was tea--
plants and methods to make tea (leaves).
