Yes and no.

(a) A few years before the start of American Revolution, Boston was the third largest city by population. Philadelphia is the largest and New York City was the second.
(b) Here is the official record from Boston Municipal Register.

In 1752 and 1765 Boston had 15,731 and 15,520 residents, respectively. However, Siege of Boston

Yes and no.
