My comment:
(a) I do not listen to music. At last I paid attention to a music group Black Eye Peas half a year ago. I googled but could not find origin of the name-- not even in the group's web site. Later I learned that the pea MIGHT have to do with blacks in US.  This article confirms the notion.
(b) I have spent all my time in US in the North (Chicago, Manhattan and Boston). I have not seen any dish made of it--or the pea itself.
