序言：2009年印度国会选举，选民决定维持现状

印度国会选举历经一个月投票，结果终于公布，民众坚定支持由国大党领军的「联合进步联盟」，让许多观察家感到意外。
在笔者撰文此刻，国会543个席次中，已有480席确定结果，国大党拿下超过200席，再加上联盟其他政党席次，距离逾半数的273席只差不到20席。

选举结果让人再度回想起选民对尼赫鲁－甘地（Nehru-Gandhi）家族的迷恋，也代表家族新一代的拉胡尔．甘地（RahulGandhi）站上政坛，喜形于色的国大党党魁桑妮亚．甘地（Sonia Gandhi）强调，现任总理辛哈（ManmohanSingh）仍是该党下任总理人选，辛哈也将成为自建国总理尼赫鲁（Jawahalal Nehru）以来，第一位做完五年任期后连任的印度总理。
目前很遗憾，Ram Vilas Paswan、Ram Naik、Renuka Choudhry、Vinod Khanna、Meera Sanyal、Captain Gopnath等人均败选，而Shashi Tharoor则以大幅领先之姿胜出。
整理印度博客及Twitter用户反应
国大党支持者欢欣鼓舞、人民党死忠支持者士气低迷，而多数中立的印度博客及Twitter用户则对结果显得满意，不过原因各有不同。
国大党及人民党两大全国性政党席次均增加40至50席，相较于区域型政党政见强调阶级、语言及地区认同，两大党均提出类似前瞻性的全国政党（除了人民党仍深深着迷于印度民族主义），都会区菁英阶层民众原本担心政坛发展走向分裂，投票结果集中于两大党，也让他们大松一口气。
「联合进步联盟」距离跨过273席的政府组成门槛，只差15至20席的距离，故原本观察家认为选后会出现许多利益交换情形，如今也不太可能发生，由于获得选民如此清楚的授权，未来五年应能组织稳定政府，亦不会受区域型政党的狭隘政见挟持。
国大党大胜令许多观察家感到意外，选前[<a target=_blank target="_blank" title="http://www.gauravonomics.com/blog/predictions-and-opinion-polls-for-the-2009-lok-sabha-elections-in-india/" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.gauravonomics.com/blog/predictions-and-opinion-polls-for-the-2009-lok-sabha-elections-in-india/">多数预测及民调[</a>都认为，国大党与人民党席次将不相上下，让区域型政党因而崛起。
有些观察家认为，结果等于为印度传统竞选方式背书，人民党在大众媒体与数位媒体发动全面性选战，但结果与2004年情况同样不成功；国大党以传统竞选模式应战，仰赖电影歌曲、地方造势与尼赫鲁－甘地家族魅力，结果相当奏效，但笔者建议不应将此巧合视为胜败原因，人民党失败之因在于印度民族主义的意识型态，而非竞选策略，社会媒体的成功仍不足以带来胜选，但败选绝非社会媒体所致。
#IndiaVotes09：印度Twitter用户反应
Twitter网站上关于印度选举的对话分为几个类别，包括转述选举结果的新闻报导、庆祝国大党胜选、反思人民党败选（Twitter上人民党支持者众）、思考对印度的意涵等。
除了以上主题，[<a target=_blank target="_blank" title="http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23indiavotes09" rel="nofollow" href="http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23indiavotes09">#IndiaVotes09[</a>这个标签在Twitter上还有其他竞争者。
第一个例子很容易理解，在过去一个月的选举期间内，只有少数讯息加上[<a target=_blank target="_blank" title="http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23indiavotes09" rel="nofollow" href="http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23indiavotes09">#IndiaVotes09[</a>标签，在开票当天大量讨论选举结果，[<a target=_blank target="_blank" title="http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23indiavotes09+AND+trending" rel="nofollow" href="http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23indiavotes09+AND+trending">让#indiavotes一举成为热门话题[</a>，让人很自然回溯与印度相关的标签趋势，《[<a target=_blank target="_blank" title="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/India-election-results-top-trend-on-Twitter-worldwide-/articleshow/4539668.cms" rel="nofollow" href="http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/India-election-results-top-trend-on-Twitter-worldwide-/articleshow/4539668.cms">Economic Times[</a>》甚至为此撰写一则报导：
