Chinese Navy Obtains Illegal Aircraft. Strategy Page, May 16, 2010.

My comment:
(a) A fourth-generation jet fighter, the J-11 is made by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation. After it first came out of assembly line after the 1995 agreement with Sukoil, the fighter went to PLAAF. Both according to  Wikipedia.

So, I guess what is new in the news is PLAN got its hand on the fighter, too.

(b) JF-17 Thunder
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JF-17_Thunder
("It is designated as JF-17 by Pakistan, which is short for Joint Fighter-17 and as FC-1 枭龙 by China, which is short for Fighter China-1")
(c) turkey (n): "FAILURE, FLOP; especially : a theatrical production that has failed"

Note:
(a) Akash missile
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akash_missile
(akash is Sanskrit for "sky;" the surface-to-air missile can can target aircraft up to 30 km away, at altitudes up to 18,000 m; produced since 1990)
(b) Sino-Indian War
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sino-Indian_War
(The Chinese launched simultaneous offensives in Ladakh and across the McMahon Line on 20 October 1962, coinciding with the Cuban Missile Crisis)

Thus, there were two theaters: the former (Ladash) is in northwest, and the latter in northeast, of India.

My comment:
(a) Claremont Institute
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claremont_Institute
(a conservative think tank based in Claremont, California; The institute was founded in 1979 by four students of Harry V. Jaffa, a professor emeritus at Claremont McKenna College and the Claremont Graduate University, although the Institute has no affiliation with any of the Claremont Colleges.)
(b) China Station

I did not hear of this term back in Taiwan. Apparently the term is translated as 中国舰队 in China, long before communists took over China. See

王家俭, 甲午战前英国远东海军; “中国舰队”在华之活动与影响(1844-1894). 北洋文库, 2004.

* 王家儉,安徽渦陽人,1925年生。台灣師範大學史地系及台灣大學歷史研究所畢業。His academic career was in Taiwan, as well as Hong Kong.

(c) The "lilly pad" is misspelled. It should be "lily pad" which as a noun is defined as "a floating leaf of a water lily."

Both English definitions in this posting are from www.m-w.com.

(d) The article states, "China is on the cusp of being able to use [weaponry] * * * to the five or six aircraft carriers the United States * * * could dispatch to meet an invasion of Taiwan."

"Five or six"?  Probably the Taiwan Strait will be overcrowded as a result. Besides, it will be an overkill.
