My comment:
(a) Dongying

(home to the Shengli Oilfield, which is, after Daqing (Heilongjiang), the second largest oilfield nationally)
(b) The report mentions "Marc van der Chijs. who arrived [in China] 13 years ago and co-foubnded leading Chinese online video site Tudou."
"Tudou was founded by Gary Wang and Dutchman Marc van der Chijs, whom Wang met while at Bertelsmann Media Group in China."
(c) I do not know about China. But Before I left Taiwan in 1984, the air there by the street, especially at intersections, reeked of exhaust. I was raised in the industrial City of Kaohsiung: even wiped clean in the morning, at dusk the furniture was coated with a thin layer of what we called dust (My father worked at a cement factory, located about 3 miles away).
