"The fifth-generation, 1,000+ - km - radius Chengdu Aircraft Corp j-20 fighter, expected to enter formal unit service in 2017, may cost more than $100 million per aircraft. By comparison, Chengdu's J-7 fighter [produced 1965–2013; still operational] runs about $15 million apiece.

"For the PLA Rocket Force, the new second-generation multimissile carrying short-range ballistic missile system (SRBM) such as the DF-12 may cost up to $2 million pe launcher. Earlier DF-15 and DF-11 SRBMs cost about $1 million.
