In the final scene, as Stella makes her stand with her husband, Blanche is led off to a mental hospital by a matron and a kind-hearted doctor. After a brief struggle followed by the administration of a sedative, Blanche smilingly acquiesces as she devolves into her fantasy life, addressing the doctor with the most famous and poignant line in the play: 'I have always depended on the kindness of strangers.')

Russia has not tipped its hand about the future direction. After all, Valdai Club is but one of many voices in post-communist Russia.

But it does appear that Valdai Club has pulled back from its previous mode of China as comrade-in-arm. See, e.g.
Russian and Chinese experts discuss strategic cooperation. Ria Novosti, Nov 25, 2011.
http://en.rian.ru/valdai_context/20101125/161557743.html

Even if Russia seeks alliance with the West, particularly United States--it may well be the case if Russia President Dmitry Medvedev is re-elected, as opposed to Premier returning to the presidency--I can not fault the former. In the very beginning of 1970s, US and China (third military power then?) united against Soviet Union (lesser of the two superpowers). This time it will be China and Russia switching roles--leaving the formula unchanged: the strongest and the weakest of the triangle against the middleton.

Compare
Angela Stent, Asymmetry triangular: United States-China-Russia. Valdai Club, Jan 20, 2011.
http://www.valdaiclub.com/content/asymmetry-triangular-united-states-china-russia
("As for the triangular Washington-Moscow-Beijing relationship, the United States is a priority for both China and Russia, but for different reasons. China and the United States are important economic partners. The United States and Russia, are important security partners")
