My comment: I simply do not know the significance of the sales, and why the Ma administration changed its position. Years ago when Pentagon said it wanted to sell four soon-to-be-retired Perry-class frigates, Taiwan said thanks but no thanks, remarking they would be the hulls only, having been stripped of all equipment. Now news media in Taiwan say equipment would be there, but unsure what they might be or whether an upgrade of the current equipment would be possible. Naturally neither Taiwan nor US wants China to learn the details. Therefore, outsiders like me were kept in the dark, about what goodies will come with Perry.
