Washington Post: Iran Leader's Top Aide Warns US on Meddling

TEHRAN, June 18 -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's top political adviser said Thursday that the United States will regret its "interference" in Iran's disputed election.

The adviser, Mojtaba Samareh Hashemi, said in an interview that President Obama's comments this week about street demonstrations in Tehran and other Iranian cities will "make things harder" if the Obama administration attempts to engage Iran in talks over nuclear and other issues.

"I hope in the case of the elections they realize their interference is a mistake, and that they don't repeat this mistake. They'll certainly regret this. They'll have problems reestablishing relations with Iran," he said.

WSJ: Fed's Next Job: Figuring Out Just Who Is Too Big

Under the Obama administration's proposed regulatory revamp, certain companies would be set aside for special scrutiny if they are seen as large and interconnected enough that their failure would send a shudder through the
economy.

The plan would require these companies, even if they aren't banks, to face much stricter oversight from the Federal Reserve. The central bank could examine everything from the company's domestic parent to its smallest foreign subsidiary.

Officially designated "Tier 1 financial holding companies," they could be banks, insurers or almost any other large market player. Government officials believe most potential candidates already would be under Fed scrutiny because they are so-called bank-holding companies, such as Citigroup Inc. or Bank of America Corp.

AFP: US prepares for N.Korea missile launch on Hawaii

WASHINGTON (AFP) — The US military has moved additional defenses to Hawaii in case North Korea launches a missile towards the Pacific island chain, Defense Secretary Robert Gates has said.
"We do have some concerns if they were to launch a missile ... in the direction of Hawaii," Gates told a news conference on Thursday.
Gates said he had approved the deployment of THAAD missile defense weaponry to the US state and radar "to provide support" in case of a possible North Korean launch.
