Dr Jason Hu, Mayor of Taichung City

Dr Hu earned his D.Phil. at Balliol College and was a Research Fellow at St.
Antony’s College before joining public service in Taiwan, where he has
served as Director of the Government Information Office and as Foreign
Minister. He is regularly rated as one of the best and most dynamic elected
heads of regional governments in Taiwan.

(2) Contrary to Dr. Jason Hu's assertion (see the BBC article), DPP claims
its own polls show a majority of Taiwanese reject ECFA.

I also understand that this report does not necessarily reflects Dr. Hu's
views, as a reporter of Chinese descent (as 威克 is) might pick up what he
liked to hear. The topic of the lecture seemed to deal exclusively with
local matters.
