Note:
(1) Horace Greeley
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horace_Greeley
(He owned New York Tribune: "in a July 13, 1865 editorial, he famously
advised 'Go West, young man, go West and grow up with the country'")

(2) chopper (vi, vt): "to travel [or transport)] by helicopter"  www.m-w.com
(3) aught (n; alter. (resulting from incorrect division of "a naught") of
naught): "ZERO" Webster (3rd ed, 1961)
(4) This is the context of plastics in the 1967 American film The Graduate.

Mr. McGuire (played by Walter Brooke): I want to say one word to you. Just
one word.

Benjamin (played by Dustin Hoffman): Yes, sir.

Mr. McGuire: Are you listening?

Benjamin: Yes, I am.

Mr. McGuire: Plastics.

"Plastics" refer to stocks in plastics industry, which did in fact rise a
year after the release of the film.

(5) ace (vt): "to gain a decisive advantage over: DEFEAT —usually used with
out"  www.m-w.com
(6) canapé (n; F. lit., sofa): "an appetizer consisiting of a piece of
bread or toast or a cracker topped with savory food (as cheese or caviar)"
Webster (3rd ed, 1961)

I used Webster first, but could not find (2) and (5), for which I relied on
