(a) Istanbul
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Istanbul

Quote:

"Byzantium is the first known name of the city. Around 660 BC, Greek settlers from the city-state of Megara founded a Doric colony on the present-day Istanbul, and named the new colony after their king, Byzas. After Constantine I (Constantine the Great) made the city the new eastern capital of the Roman Empire in 330 AD, the city became widely known as Constantinopolis or Constantinople, which * * * means the 'City of Constantine,' * * * Etymologically, the name 'İstanbul'  derives from the Medieval Greek phrase which means 'in the city' or 'to the city.' * * * Also, while in English the stress is on the first syllable ('Is'), in Turkish it is on the second syllable ('tan').
(b) Bosphorus
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosphorus
(The name comes from Greek Bosporos, which the ancient Greeks analysed as bous 'ox' + poros 'means of passing a river, ford, ferry', thus meaning 'ox-ford')
(c) bonito  鰹 in Taiwan and Japan
(d) Golden Horn
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Horn
(a historic inlet of the Bosphorus dividing the city of Istanbul and forming the natural harbor; the old map in section 2 History)
(e) raki
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rak%C4%B1
(a non-sweet, anise-flavored spirit popularly consumed in Greece, Turkey, Albania, Bosnia and other Balkan countries as an apéritif, in particular alongside seafood and mezze)
(f) Dardanelles
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dardanelles
(The name Dardanelles derives from Dardania, an ancient land on the Asian shore of the strait which in turn takes its name from Dardanus, the mythical son of Zeus and Electra)

See the maps in this page to locates both Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits, two international waterways (not Turkey's).
(g) Istanbul University
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Istanbul_University
(It was founded as an institution of higher education named the Darülfünûn ('House of Multiple Sciences') on 23 July 1846; but the Medrese ('School of theological and environmental sciences'), which was founded immediately after Mehmed II conquered Constantinople (Istanbul) in 1453, is regarded as the precursor to the Darülfünûn which evolved into Istanbul University)
(h) The word "lufer" is not found in an English dictionary.
(i) Romania

Check out the map for Romania and Turkey.
