(a) Washing Times has a practice of embargo its daily content until late evening of eah day.
(b) Quotation 1 refers to F-16 A/B, whereas Quotation 2, F-16 C/D.
(c) While reading this sotry, proceed to read the next one (in web page 2) headlined "Gates visits Great Wall" which states in pertinent part:
"During the visit to the nuclear headquarters, Mr. Gates said he invited Gen. Jing Zhiyuan, 2nd Artillery commander, to visit the U.S. Strategic Command headquarters near Omaha, Neb.
"However, the elusive Gen. Jing has been invited several times in the past for such visits, including a direct appeal in 2006 from then-President George W. Bush to visiting Chinese President Hu Jintao, but so far has not made the trip.
"Defense officials have said Gen. Jing's refusal to visit is a reflection of tight Chinese military secrecy related to nuclear weapons, which are hidden in underground facilities, mainly in western China.
That is 靖志远. Quotation 3 suggests Gen. Jing is afraid that once he go visit Omaha, he will be forced to open up underground facilities (control and command, rather than silos?) to accomodate US officials' return visit.
(d) Then, proceed to the third story--under the same URL--headlined "China intel failure" which quotes an unnmaed senior U.S. intelligence official as indicating there is no failure, beside the following statement:
"Michael Birmingham, a spokesman for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, said runway taxi tests and the first short flight of a the J-20 prototype aircraft 'do not constitute an operational capability, which we project to be a number of years away.'
It will be up to Congress (and higher offices in the executive branch) to sort out difference in opinions, if any.

My comment: Instead of conventional Taoyuang-Narita route, four airlines (Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways, EVA Air, and China Airlines; the firt two Japanese and the last two Taiwanese) each fly twice-daily the Songshan-Haneda route, starting Oct 31, 2010.
Songshan Airport 松山機場 (after 松山區, City of Taipei) and Haneda Airport 羽田空港 are within the respective capitals, to save a trip to and from Taoyuan International Airport 桃園國際機場 (which then president Chen Shui-bian renamed from CKS International Airport 中正國際機場) and Narita International Airport 成田国際空港.
