I think the CNA report makes a mistake here. Doolitle Raid was launched from an aircraft carrier USS Hornet (CV-8), which was flat-top.
US has never had a ski-jump, which was a British innovation around 1980 or 1981. See

My comment:
(a) Registration is required. Still I think it is worth it, because
(i) FT is the first to publish this topic (though Reuters publishes an online report which is not very imformative--and a day late); and
(ii) the report is in FT page 1, despite its pint size.
