(b) Human bile contains two major bile acids (cholic acid and chenodeoxycholic acid, roughly equal in amount in humans; synthesized by the liver from cholesterol). Cholic acid is insoluble in water (soluble in alcohol). Gut bacteria removes the oxygen molecule from hydroxyl group (-OH) at the lower left quadrant of cholic acid to produce deoxycholic acid. . The latter is water soluble (and thus can be injected in water-based solution).
(c) Kybella is made by Kythera Biopharmaceuticals (located just north of Los Angeles).

Because the pharmaceutical company has not done clinical studies yet.
