Wendy Hickey, Dad Misses Court, Judge Dismisses Case. Boston Herald, July 2, 2917 (in the legal advice column "Divorce 411").

My comment:
(a) In law as well as everything else, simplicity is beauty.
(b) In a civil case when a plaintiff or movant does not show up in court, the case or the motion will mostly be dismissed for lack of prosecution.
(c) The last paragraph essentially says: There is no need (for you and your ex) to go through the motion (pun intended; both 运动 and 动议). Everything will be all right as long as you (the mother) do not seek contempt (of the ex). But if you do (seek contempt), the judge will not find the ex in contempt (because both the US constitution and state law says that if a person can not do something  (eg, repay debt because he is totally broke) even if he wants to, then it will be unconstitutional to compel the person. (So the creditor may have to wait until the debtor received money somewhere sometimes.)
