Quote:
(a) the first four paragraphs:
"Comac is now targeting 2021 for first delivery if its C919 airliner, while the Chinese state company's consortium with United Aircraft Corp (UAC) has requested proposals for engines for S929 widebody airliner.
"The C919 delivery objective represents a one-year slip from an unannounced target of 2020 Comac was aiming for in 2017. But by opting to publicly state its schedule, Comac is exhibiting greater confidence in achieving it.
"The first of six planned C919 prototypes is now flying frequently [first flight in November 2017], says Lu Zheng, deputy general manager of sales and marketing. The second took its first flight on Dec 17 [both the first and the second are testing in Shanghai, according to the same reporter who reports elsewhere].
" * * * This [2021] is the first public statement of a delivery target since 2014, when the company said it would hand over the first unit to a customer in 2018.
(b) "Craic, the Sino-Russian consortium developing CR929 [['formerly known as Comac C929': en.wikipedia.org]
Note:
(a) (two) summaries underneath the title in print:
> First prototype of Chinese narrowbody airliner is flying frequently
> Comac-UAC consortium seeks propulsion proposals
(b) There is no need to read the rest.
(c) I do not know why two acronyms are lowercase except the first letter (Comac and Craic) but others in this report are all uppercase (eg, UAC).
(d) Based in Moscow, United Aircraft Corp (UAC) was formed in 2006 by a presidential decree (from Putin) to merge Ilyushin, Irkut, Mikoyan, Sukhoi, Tupolev, and Yakovlev. en.wikipedia.org.
(e) Craic stands for "China-Russia Commercial Aircraft International Co Ltd." The two English letters in CR929 may stand for the same. The en.wikipedia.org page for "Comac" (not COMAC, the form the company’s official website uses) says "CRAIC [sic] * * * was established in Shanghai on 22 May 2017. Research and development for the new plane will be conducted in Moscow, and will be assembled in Shanghai."
