Note:
(a) "California kindergartner Dani stunned her parents in May when she addressed her mom, who said she was going to the eye doctor, in a polished British accent: 'Mummy, are you going to the optician?'  'And we were like, "the what?" ' says Dani's father, Matias Cavallin. 'That's [Optician's] like a college-level word,' he says. * * * Dani's grandparents — immigrants from Argentina who mostly speak Spanish"
(i) A unisex name in English, Dani is short from Daniel (male given name; meaning "God is my judge" in Hebrew) or Danielle (female given name).

Daniel in Spanish or Portuguese is also spelled the same, but pronounced slightly differently, See

(Years after I came to America, I was still puzzled why Americans call cookies cookies (in Taiwan we use Oxford or Cambridge dictionaries, so definitions and pronunciations are British), but after learning its etymology (from Dutch language; the Dutch once colonized lower Manhattan as New Amsterdam), it became natural that American call cookie cookie.

(d) "In December, 6-year-old Aurelia insisted on the British holiday traditions of wearing a crown and baking mince pies for 'Father Christmas,' says her mother, Lauren Ouellette, in North Scituate, Rhode Island. 'It gave us room to explore something new. Is Father Christmas the same guy as Santa [the answer is yes]? And why is he called that?' she says.  Aurelia throws around phrases like, 'Can we turn the telly on?' A reference to the water closet instead of the bathroom initially threw off Ouellette."
