My comment:
(a) An 2011 version of CIA World Factbook has arrived, about two weks late this year.
(b) Please note that the Factbook is subject to revision throughout the year. A year ago--at the beginning of 2011--GDP per capita (PPP) was above $37,000 and more than $2,000 above those of France, Germany and UK. A few days ago I checked again (looking for the 2011 edition in vain), and found that for the 2010 edition, GDP per capita (PPP) for Taiwan remained above $37,000 and $2,000 ahead of those of France and UK, but that of Germany was changed to about the same as Taiwan's. The early 2011 edition, however, lists (presumably final) 2010 estimates for those of France, Germany, Taiwan and UK as $34,600, $36,800, $36,300 and $35,800, respectively.
(c) The early 2011 edition:
..............GDP per capita (PPP)....GDP (PPP)......GDP (official exchange rate)
